In OoP Harry must take his OWL exams. I was rereading the book and i noticed that Harry didnt know an answer on his History of Magic exam. He was wishing he could use legimency and open a window into Parvitis (who was sitting infront of him) mind. It is quite clear that Harry did not know the answer to this question. Then:
"Harry closed his eyes and buried his face in his hands, so that the glowing red of his eyelids grew dark and cool." Then some how Harry had rememebered the answer (or extracted it from Parviti). Then:
"He opened his eyes;they stung and watered at the sight of the blazing white parchment. Then Harry scribled down the answer.

I think that this was a sort of legimency. I don't think he ment to. Because we know that you don't have to have eye contact to do legimency.

[glow=blue,2,300]You do have to have eyecontact to perform legilemency... maybe it was some sort of occlumency...prying into his own brain... or maybe it was Voldy who gave him the answer because remember, he knows how to tap into his brain and maybe he gave him the answer.[/glow]

This is very interesting. I never noticed this before. Actually, I think Legilimency is prying into other people's brains, and Occlumency is basically just blocking Legilimency.
There were 2 wizards in OotP mentioned who could teach Harry Occlumency and therefore must be pretty skilled at it: 1- Dumbledore 2- Snape
However, we also know three wizards who possess a varying degree of skill at Legilimency: 1- Dumbledore 2- Snape 3- Voldemort
I don't have my books with me at this point, so I can't look this up. Is eye contact absolutely necessary for Legilimency in every case for every wizard (with the obvious exception of Harry and Voldemort's scar connection), or does eye contact just make it significantly easier? Have we ever seen Voldemort use Legilimency without actually looking the person in the eye? Did he know that Frank Bryce was lying before or after Wormtail turned him around to face him?
What I'm getting at is that maybe it's possible for a wizard to be so skilled at Legilimency that eye contact is not necessary, though close proximity probab ly still is. If Voldemort is that skilled at Legilimency, perhaps he passed that skill to Harry via the scar and Harry doesn't even realize it. What do yall think?

[glow=blue,2,300]That may very well be true. It is very interesting...maybe if you have enough skill you could probably do it.
p.s. to Stellina, i was watching an extended version of the Two Towers and i dident realize that aragorn was 87!![/glow]
